True mommy confession Thursday

Some mornings I just cannot seem to get myself moving. So instead of making a sandwich for Nick's lunch, I find random snacks and foods in the cabinets & fridge to suffice. You know...a bag of pretzels, yogurt, maybe some raisins, couple cookies.

True mommy confession Thursday

So my confession this week...I turn off the monitor at night so that I do not have to listen to my daughter "cry it out." Our bedroom is on the first floor and the kids sleep on the 2nd floor so if I turn the monitor off, I can sleep through the night without any interruption. She is almost 10 months old so there really is no need to be waking at night...right!?

Happy Earth Day...

How will you be celebrating Earth Day?

Did you know that today is Earth Day?

Show your support this Earth Day and start weeCycling!

What is weeCycling you might ask? Well weeBgreen and Chesapeake Ribbons have joined forces to take items you or your wee ones have outgrown or are just plain tired of and weeCycle them into new, repurposed items. weeCycle is a new program we've conjured up in our "mommypreneur" chats and we think it's a pretty good idea. So what is weeCycle? It is our way to recycle, repurpose and "upcycle" items that would otherwise be sent to a landfill. We're talking about stuff like:

old belts or belt hardware
old ribbon (think of all that ribbon that gets thrown out from wedding and baby showers)
old barrettes or barrette hardware
old dog collars
old dog leashes
old headbands
apparel (onesies, t-shirts, pj's, etc...to be used for sewing projects)

In exchange for your help and participation in our weeCycle program, we're offering you a credit of your shipping costs toward purchases at weeBgreen. If this sounds like something you might like to take part in or if you have any questions, please feel free to leave me a comment.

True "Mommy Confession" Thursday

So I am a big fan of the Today show & Oprah. Over the last couple of weeks they have been discussing moms and how "we really feel" & what one is really thinking but would never say out loud. Well today the authors of the True Confessions book and website had a segment on the Today Show. This got me thinking...maybe I should start posting my true mommy confessions every Thursday? Give my blog a bit of a spin and something for you all to come back to read week after week....?

So here is my first mommy confession:
When I need to run in the post office to mail a package or buy stamps (at the machines...never wait in line), I leave my kids in the car. Only the car with tinted windows mind you...Is that so wrong? My mom used to leave us in the car when we were younger ALL the time. I have many memories of just sitting in the car for what felt like hours. Of course I would never leave them for that long and I always lock the car...

Why can't they just have a drive-thru postal window exclusively for moms?!

So what about you? Do you have any confessions you are bold enough to share??

April is Autism Awareness Month

As you are already aware from my previous posts, April is Autism Awareness month. To spread the word, Chesapeake Ribbons is featuring this set exclusively over at WeeBgreen for just $17 (normally $20). Not only that, but WeeBgreen has teamed up with Chesapeake Ribbons to donate 25% of of all Autism Awareness set sales to Autism Speaks.

"The set is perfect for any mom with a wee one, and a great way to show your support. The Key FOB is fun, stylish, and functional, making those keys harder to misplace! Ribbon key fobs are made from 1.25” wide sturdy cotton webbing, grosgrain ribbon, and nickel-plated hardware. The bow is great for sprucing up a pony tail and the barrette is great for older gals or moms."

How was your Easter?...

This Easter holiday we traveled down to MD to visit my family and friends. It was a whirlwind trip but a lot of fun to see everyone. After making the 2 hour drive down through the rain, we dropped the dog off at my parent's house...said a quick "hello"...then made our way into Baltimore to visit with some of my high school friends (some from the west coast, new england, & of course, local). Here's a picture of a few of us with our newest little crabs...

Then on Sunday we went to mass around 10:30 am. Anna was super but Nick was a little antsy to say the least. He kept saying, "Is mass over yet?" Then at one point he was actually listening to the priest (very impressive for an almost 4 year old) because he said to me, "Mommy...is Jesus dead?" I just LOVE to hear him think aloud. So once mass was over, we headed over to my Aunt's house for Easter lunch. The kids had a ball going on an Easter egg hunt (pics coming soon)....and not only did they find candy in their eggs but also mon$y!

Lunch was fabulous as always (Shrimp salad, potato salad, fried chicken, ham, asparagus, spring green salad, deviled eggs, plus endless hor d'oeuvres). Then about 2 pm...Mike had to leave for Australia. Yes, you read right....Australia!? He has to go for business for the next 8 days. We miss him tons already. Sooo...after he left, I stayed a little while longer to visit with the family. Once again I had to stop at my parent's house to pick the dog and then headed back to Philly. We finally arrived home about 6 pm.

Whew...what a weekend! So...how was your Easter?

Easter Bunny Express

Over the weekend we took the kids for a ride on the West Chester Railroad for the Easter Bunny Express. It was so much fun and the kids loved it! Anna loved that there was a banjo player and Nick was just thrilled to be on a train...and mom & dad, just glad to have the kids contained and entertained :-)

Here are some photos of our day...
