Our first snow...

So we had our first snowfall this morning and it was so beautiful that I had to take pictures! We did not get a whole lot last year here in PA but they say it will be a cold and snowy winter this year.....we will see!? Nick got to enjoy some play outside before we headed to his preschool for a Thanksgiving Feast!

What is your favorite season and why?

I love fall!...Probably because I live on the East coast and enjoy the leaves changing color this time of year. I was also married in October ;-) We just celebrated our 9 year anniversary on 10/9. Right now I am sitting in my living room and looking out our slider doors at the woods behind the house - really need to take a picture. The leaves are especially colorful this year and staying on the tress much longer.

Winter Wonderland Gives Back

This holiday shopping event will be held this Sunday from 11am-4pm at the Goshen Fire company - 1320 Park Avenue, West Chester PA.

There will be a variety of different (all local) vendors attending. Also, there will be a professional photographer who will take pictures at a nominal price and email you the picture, along with the rights to reproduce the picture at will. This is a huge bargain.

The beneficiaries are Francisvale Home For Smaller Animals, a local (Radnor, PA) no-kill animal shelter for cats and dogs(www.francisvalehome.org) and Billy's Legacy Foundation (www.billyslegacy.org) This Foundation was created after the tragic 2006 car accident and death of Billy Baurenschmidt on Burke Road in West Whiteland. Billy was 17. His legacy lives on in the form of "The Summit," a training facility in West Chester, built for Chester County Youth, providing them a place to learn how to, and actually influence their culture and society through music, art, graphic design, and website development. Billy's Legacy Foundation is puting together a scholarship program for local teens. From Francisvale, attendees will not only get to meet the shelter Director, Grace Kelly, but a variety of the most newly rescued dogs and cats that Francisvale has up for adoption.

This event is presented by Taryn's Closet and McCann's Scents.

Great recipe for these rainy cold days...

Blackberry Cobbler

Butter for the baking dish
3 half-pint containers fresh blackberries or one 16-ounce bag frozen unsweetened blackberries, thawed
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
2 cups pancake mix
1 cup whole milk
2 large eggs
1 7- or 8-ounce container whipped cream

Heat oven to 375° F. Butter an 8-inch square baking dish.

Add the berries and 1 1/2 tablespoons of the sugar to the dish and toss. In a large bowl, combine the pancake mix, milk, and eggs until no lumps remain. Pour the batter over the berries. Bake until the crust is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Remove from oven. Let cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with the remaining sugar and serve with a dollop of whipped cream.

Yield: Makes 6 servings (Real Simple Magazine)

So I have been meaning to post about my excitement as Area Manager for Chester County Moxie Moms...but with preschool starting & Anna turning 4 months (teething, growth spurts, etc...), I am only now getting to it! Our chapter was voted as "Lila's 2008 best pic!" Woo-hoo!
