10 Things all mothers should have in their purse

Author of "The Safe Baby: A Do-It-Yourself Guide for Home Safety", Debra Smiley Holtzman, gives 10 must-haves for every mom's purse in order to have a "safe baby."

Here's the list:
~small umbrella (UV if possible)
~nexcare band-aid variety pack (nexcare brand because they have 360 degree adhesive which prevents germs from getting in...also the shape stays on those tiny little fingers best).
~cell phone with camera
~solar charger (for ipods, blackberry, etc...)
~small pad & pen
~LED flashlight (or any small flashlight)
~reusable bag (we're all trying to go green and can never remember to bring them on our grocery trips, right!?)
~metal whistle
~hand sanitizer
~3-in-1 beauty product (you never know when you'll run into someone important, lol)

Our trip to the OBX

So if you are a monster truck fan than you will certainly know Grave Digger. Well I learned that on our way to the OBX (Outer Banks, NC) we would be passing by Grave Diggers Dungeon!



So these are few of our many pics from this "pit stop." Nick got to ride a monster truck with Daddy....


I don't know how it all started but my son is a HUGE fan of monster trucks. We are not a speed channel family until now!?

We stayed in Nagshead at a house with 4 other families which was awesome! Every night the kids went to bed...the monitors came out...and the drinking & games began :-) A much needed vacation for all!

Kids say the darn est things don't they!?

So we're in the grocery...picture me with Anna in my baby bjorn carrier pushing a cart with the car in front. Those things are impossible to maneuver aren't they!? My little man is climbing in and out and singing Jingle Bells. I approach the check-out counter and get in line behind another woman. She starts laughing when she hears Nick singing Jingle Bells (in his 3yr. old version mind you). She then starts talking to him about Christmas and he proceeds to give her this long explanation about how when Santa comes he gives naughty little boys coal for Christmas, lol. She said to me, "You've made quite a little impression on him."

And here's another one...I nurse Anna, so when we're out with friends or in public I use my nursing cover. The other day, Nick said to me, "Mommy, no one wants to see your boobies!" What a stinker....I cannot wait to see what Anna's personality will be like :-)

1-I competed in the Nationals with my mother when I was in high school, in Juno Kata...the "ballet of Judo".

2-I am NOT a morning person but my son wakes up at 6 am, regardless of bedtime...don't you hate that?!

3-I was a sociology major in college, concentrating in health yet I own & operate my own online business - Chesapeake Ribbons - Classic handmade ribbon accessories.

4-I love to sit on the porch listening & watching summer thunderstorms.

5-My favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate & peanut butter...Mmm....

6-I have a tattoo of a howling wolf on my lower back...everyone thinks I look so innocent!?

7-I am addicted to Judge Judy.

I apologize for not posting.

We have been on vacation in the Outer Banks, NC (Nagshead) for the past week & I decided to not blog!? We had the BEST time down there (we went with 4 other families). I so miss the beach already. Anyway, I will be posting lots of pics as well as a cute "pirate" video over the next few days....stay tuned :-)

Out Sick

Sorry for the lack of posts and pictures this week...I have been sick with some sort of virul bug that leaves me with chills and then fevers, headaches, soreness in my neck, and all that good stuff. I have had my blood drawn to rule out mono and/or Lymes Disease - find out Monday?

To top it all off....my husband was away on business in Canada, nurse my 6 week old newborn, and care for my VERY active 3 yr. redhead! Needless to say I have not had a good week but do not want to rant too much!?

So...I hope to be back action next week???
